Well done The Fox

Excellent pick Basil with Frozen Fire, let's hope we can start finding a few more winners. Our first selection is Aussie Blue in the 5.15 at pontefract. Richard Whitaker's gelding finished second to a progressive type over course and distance back in May. He is two pound lower this afternoon and has perfect ground conditions. Our second choice runs in the 7.40 at Windsor, Sir Michael's Lindelaan. We gave this one last time out when she was just beaten by an improving filly. The pair were clear of the rest so it could be decent form.

A welcome winner....

If in doubt go for Stoute, seems to be the motto. He must have a great chance as well with Tartan Bearer in the Irish derby. However we are going to stick with our Epsom selection Curtain Call. He was never going in the English version and we could see a much better effort today. Mutamared in the 2.05 is another selection from the Curragh. Kevin Ryan's charge hasn't had the best of look in recent races, but as a consequence he has dropped down to a tempting mark. At Windsor we will go for Porthole in the 3.40. The Barry Hills trained colt couldn't have won more easily on his return and a mark of 88 doesn't seem too harsh.

Some more to avoid..

Yeah not getting anything right at present, but we keep going and in the feature at Newcastle we do like the look of Tilt. Brian Ellison's charge ran a blinder in the Chester cup when hampered late on. The slight drop in trip will be ideal and we expect a good run. We will give our old favourite Maze another chance in the 3.55. Down to a rating of 95, he does look very well treated on the pick of last season's form. He has been pulling hard in his races but if he settles who knows. Over to Ireland for our final choice, Promising Lead in the 3.45. Sir Michael's runner progressed nicely last season and she has strong claims on her run in the Prix De l'Opera.

Two poor efforts.

Let's see if we can do better on Friday. The first is Exceedingly Good in the first at Donny. She was very green on her debut but well backed and should know more about it today. Also at Donny we like another Smart runner Prime Spirit in the 3.25. He won well last time and the form was franked yesterday. Our final choice is Writingonthewall in the 4.35. Michael Bell's charge hasn't stayed a mile in his last two races and has subsequently dropped down the ratings.

Back and not to wet...

A nice few days away so refreshed and ready to win some money. To be honest it may take a few days to get back into the form. However we do like the look of Lady Aquataine in the 3.50 at Warwick. She contested some top races last season and only appears to have one horse to beat. In the 4.30 at Newcastle Under The Rainbow looks to have solid claims. The Barry Hills trained filly disappointed at Ascot, but her previous form was solid and does boast the highest rating.

Last blog until Wednesday..

Heading to the lakes for a few days. we like the look of Prime Defender in the Wokingham. The Hills' runner looked on the way back to form last time out and has gone well off higher marks. Our second choice is Mad Rush in the 5.00. A typical Cumani improver and he can gain compensation for the defeat of Bankable.

Sorry about Thursday....

Computer problems. Okay today so let's have a look at friday. In the 3.45 at Ascot Spacious is the selection. She ran a blinder in the Guineas and as she is lightly raced has more scope than most of these. An old favourite Lovelace goes in the 5.30. He is dropping into handicap company after struggling a little in Group three's. His mark of 104 isn't too bad and he can go well under Mick Kinane.

Poor efforts on the first day...

It can only get better. The highlight of day two of Ascot is the Prince Of Wales's stakes at 3.45 and it should go to Duke Of Marmalade. He has done nothing wrong this season and the form has been well franked. O'Brien can also take the Jersey stakes at 2.30 with Jupiter Pluvious. The drop back to seven looks ideal after running out steam in the Irishs Guineas. Heaven Sent could be the one in the 3.05. Sir Michael has a good record in this event and this improving type should be capable of winning a Group two. Lucky Leigh is the final selection. Mich Channon's filly went off at a big price on her debut but won in great style and is obviously expected to improve.

What a card....

The Royal meeting is here again and what a competitive card. First of all I must agree with the Fox in the 2.30 with Tariq. He has shown a liking for this track and did well to finish third in the Lockinge last time out. He will improve for that effort and should go close. Galient is the choice in the 4.55. Nicky Henderson does well with this type and this former Michael Jarvis inmate has gone well here in the past. In the 5.30 Saucy Brown could be the the best in a very competitive race. Richard Hannon has a wealth of juvenile talent and this impressive winner could go close in his follow up bid.

Whoopee a winner!!!

A good price at 9/4 as well. Let's hope it is a return to form. On Monday our first choice is Brigadore in the 3.15 at Carlisle. James Given's charge has dropped to a very lenient mark and showed signs of a form revival last time out. In the 8.30 at Winsdor Hunting Country is of interst. He chased home a decent type last time out and is open to improvement.

We have to put an end to this run...

So I have not really gone for value today, but horses that should win. Quite often when I pick favourites it is like the kiss of death, but Swop looks a good thing in the 2.20 at Doncaster. The form of his reappearance run is absolutely rock solid and he is open to improvement. Ryan Moore is riding out of his skin and Swiss Franc could land the 3.35 at Salisbury. He ran some cracking races in top company last season and can get the better of his elders.

Still going wrong...

Saturday is tough, but Hamish McGonagall should go well in the 3.25. A game winner last time out and he looks to be open to more improvement. Tajdeef in the 3.40 at Sandown is the second selection. He has been beaten by some decnt types this season and just looks to have the Candy horse to beat.

Can't buy a winner at the moment...

So these are the best ones to ignore on Friday. The first is Naval Review in the 3.50 at Sandown. Sir Michael's charge was quite an impressive debut winner and looked in need of his recent handicap debut but still ran with credit. We also like Timbalier in the 8.00 at Goodwood. David Simcocks colt has shown little so far but is bred to be a middle distance horse and could have got in here lightly.

Beaten a nose...

Things are not going right at all. Let's see if we can do better on Thursday. We had a good word for Nizhoni last season and she was entered in the some top races. Bryan has been very patient and she could go well first time up in the 3.00 at Haydock. I can't quite get Dandy right this season, but I will have to select Minority Report in the 4.45. This former Cumani inmate is down to a decent mark and will win races.

Still no joy...

This is very poor at the moment let's hope Lindelaan in the 3.10 at Nottingham can turn things around. Stoutey's charge was very impressive when taking a maiden and 79 looks a fair mark. A Sir Michael double today with Ascot Lime our other selection in the 3.40. This one hasn't lived up to the stable hype, but could be better than this bunch.

We have hit a bad patch....

So we need some funds today. The first selection is Defies Logic in the 5.30 at Redcar. Jmes Given's charge was a little unlucky on handicap debut but stayed on well to take third and should be suited by extra distance. A big Jackpot again at chester tonight, but after last night's disaster I will leave it alone. Although there is one runner we like, Coconut Moon in the 8.15. She has a liking for this course, has the ground she prefers and is three pound lower than her last winning mark.

Ponty jackpot will be 300, 000

I failed last time this happened at Ponty, but having another go tonight. For the blog we will put forwardTribe in the 7.20. He has shown a liking for this course and has dropped back to a very lenient mark. In the jackpot I am adding Aphorism. In the listed race at 8.20 Treat is the selection. She was a class act in the early part of last season and may be too good for these. Bahia Breeze is my other jackpot choice. Just for interest the full jackpot perm is...
6.50 Maid For Music
7.20 Aphorism + Tribe
7.50 Mega watt +Totoman
8.20 Treat + Bahia Breeze
8.50 Messiah Garvey, Dolly No Hair, Dorn Dancer + Brigadore
9.20 Pickering + Funfair Wane.

Jim Bolger mmmmmm.

Well done to New Approach, that's all I can say and that is through gritted teeth. Glossing over that and on to Sunday, a rare jumps selection today in Little Bit Of Hush in the 4.20 at Worcester. Noel Chance's charge has had plenty of problems but he made a promising return in april and on better ground he could go well off his current mark. In the 4.00 at Brighton Flam looks to have solid claims. Her second race at Doncatser is working out well and the extra distance should siut.

No joy in the Oaks

Let's hope we do better with the colts. as you know Curtain Call is my selection in the big one, although we don't want the ground too fast. In the Dash at 3.15 we are going against our Masta Plasta with stable companion Strike Up The Band. Dandy's five year old has dropped down to a very favourable mark and has looked as though he's coming back to form. Maia is another Nicholls runner that could go well. She hasn't really fired yet this season but is back on a winning mark and could bounce back in the 7.20 at newcastle.

What happened to yesterday's ?

For some reason it hasn't updated. A 7/2 winner as well, typical. Anyway let's take a look at friday and in the Oaks we will have to stick with Lush Lashes. She hammered a decent looking field in the Musidora and this is the best trial form on show. Just one other today in the 2.10 at Epsom, Prince Of Light. He has been successful off a mark of 109 in the past and having landed races at Chester and Goodwood this track should suit.

A bit late today...

And no real confidence but we have backed Winners Chant in the 2.20 at Lingfield. Stoutey's runner boasts an excellent pedigree and was an expensive purchase. We also the look of Granary in the 2.50. Henry Candy's charge hasn't run a bad race all season and is still open to imprevement.

Epsom Derby

Just a few days until the Blue Riband of racing so let's take a look at the field. There was always a doubt about the participation of Casual Conquest, but after confirmation this one heads the ante-post betting. He is a deserved favourite having slaughtered his rivals in the main Irish trial. Jim Bolger, or his owners, have now decided to run New Approach and this has caused quite a stir in the racing world. To be honest I have backed this one a while ago at shorter odds. However three classics in a month may be too much for this one. Curtain Call has to be the selection. Trained in Ireland in his juvenile days, he was backed by his owners at 66/1 for Saturday's race following an impressive win in a Group Two event at the Curragh. The form has worked out well and the stable oozes confidence.

The Derby is getting closer....

But getting more confusing. We backed New Approach last October and thought we had done our dough so it was good news that we will at least get a run for our money. On to Tuesday and a very difficult afternoon. Just one selection at Ripon Moothir in the 4.30. Ignore this one's retuurn at Donny as he is better judged on a promising maiden run at Lingfield, a race that is working out well. At Foklestone this evening we like the look of the well bred Sister Clement in the 6.50. A rare juvenile runner from this yard who cost afair bit and is realted to to some decent types.

So close in the Derby...

Let's see if we can do better today. Our first choice is Avertitop in the 2.30 at Leicester. this one drops to a seller fopr the first time having shown plenty of ability as a juvenile. We also like the look of Danae ion the 3.30 race. Henry Candy's charge can take this step up in class following an excellent victory at the Craven meeting, when beating an easy subsequent winner. We selected Hoh Mike last time out when he was abit unlucky in running, he can make amends in the 8.00 at Windsor.

We're back...

Not many games due to the weather but was a good trip. Shame we missed saturday as Master Plasta won at big odds. It is a horse we have followed, I hope one or two of you were on it. On to Sunday and in the French Derby we like Famous Name. He won his Guineas trial in great style and he should be much better over this longer trip. Indian Edge is today's other selection in the 4.10 at Bath. This one, unlike most of these, will love the ground and he has dropped to a decent mark.

Danny is second from left.
