Good racing from Newbury...

In particular one of the best novice chases of the season and Danny reckons Air Force One could win the 2.35. This trainer is bullish about this one being one of the leading chasers and if fit for his return this smart hurdler should go close. Danny also like The Very Man in the 1.30 race. This one should be spot on followng a couple of promising efforts and he still looks on a decent mark. I have one from Newbury Copsale Lad in the 2.05 race. He was so impressive over course and distance last February and there have been excuses for his defeats since. In the 12.50 Kalahari King could make a winning debut. Ferdy Murphy reckons his one could be top class and is already thinking about Cheltenham. Murphy could land a double with Folk Tune in the 2.25. He has looked in need of his two runs to date and could noiw be ready to do himself justice.

Short priced, but nice to get a double..

McCoy could have a good afternoon at Uttoxeter on Thursday and I fancy Elsie's Pride to follow up a very easy win last time out. Simondium looks a good recruit for Paul Nicholls in the 2.15 at Taunton. This was rated 92 at one stage opn the flat and has little to beat today. More from Dan in the moring. A couple for Danny as well, the first is Akilak in the 1.20 at Carlisle. This one didn't set the world alight over fences last season but the stable in in better form this term and we may not have seen the best of this one. Couer d'Alene in the 3.20 at Taunton is the lad's second choice. He was going well before coming to grief last time out, with a clear round he should go cose.

At least one of them could jump...

A couple of fallers yesterday, let's hope Wednesday's runners get round. Danny has gone for Surricate the 12.50 at Wetherby. This one had solid form last season and could be spot on following two runs this term. Dan has also gone for a Murphy runner in the 3.05 race Le Roi Rouge . The gelding has been in excellent form all season and could still be on a decent mark. Blue Splash in the 2.55 at Chepstow is my only selection. A very impressive winner of a novice chase, is from ayard in form and looks well treated back over hurdles.

A winner at last.

Ferimon did us afavour at a generous price on Monday, let's see if we can find afew more today. We reckon Nicky Henderson could have a good day at Kempton. Danny likes Boomshakalaka in the 12.40, who improved towards the end of last season and looks the type to make a chaser. Henderson can land a novice chase double withTreasury Counsel in the 1.45. This one goes well fresh and doesn't have much to beat on his chase debut. Danny has also selected Pole Star in the 2.55. The Evan Williams gelding is another one that goes well fresh and doesn't look badly treated on seasonal return.

Strange results on Sunday...

Lets hope it is easier today. Danny starts with a selection on the all-weather, China Cherub in the 1.30 at Lingfield. Richard Hannon's runner wasn't beaten far off this mark in a handicap last time out and drops to claiming company for the first time. Wee Forbes in the 1.40 at Ayr is his second choice. This one was adecnt hurdler and will have no problem with ground or trip. I like the look of Ferimon in the 1.20 at Ludlow. He is weighted to reverse recent running with Cassia Heights and should improve as it was his seasonal debut. I am also going to take a chance with the well bred Dynamo Dave in the 2.00 at Lingfield. From a top American family, this expensive purchase should have no problems with the surface.

Hope you like the new look...

Well done to young Tobes, I think he's done a good job with the blog. Let's see if it brings some better luck with the selections. My first choice is Olay Olay in the 1.40 at Aintree. This one was a very impressive winner last time out and with the placed horses winning next time out the form speaks foe itself. My second choice is the Alan King newcomer Simba Sun in the 12.10 at Plumpton. The stable is flying at present and this one was a decent performer on the flat and will not have to be too good to land this. Danny likes Irish Raptor in the 2.50 at Aintree. you have to ignore the last run, but his previous effort was excellent and he doesn'y look badly treated on that effort.

New blog layout.

Do not be alarmed! This is the new and (hopefully) improved blog layout that will be rolled out and perfected over the next few weeks. If you notice any problems with any particular browsers while viewing, please leave comments to this post and we'll sort it out ASAP. Also, feel free to tell us what you think (removing expletives as necessary) and we might just change it.

PS: Pick some winners Noel

A great day's racing.

Some top performers in action today including Wichata Lineman in the 1.50 at ascot. It is an old favourite of both of us and he should be up to winning this on his way to a crack at the top long distance prizes. Danny's next choice is Pacha D'Oudaries in the 1.25 at Huntingdon. This one was a decent flat performer and has reportedly schooled well. Danny also likes the Nicholls trained runner in the 1.35 at Haydock Taranis. It is one of his horses to follow and he does look well treated here over hurdles.

I can't catch my breath...

If this was my job I would be fired. Terrible selections on Thursday, so I will let Danny do the bulk of it today. His first choice is King Of Angels in the 3.10 at Ascot. A game winner last time out and has a fitness edge over main danger Cousin Nicky. His second selection is Laustra Bad in the 3.45 race. This one progressed well last season and doesn't look on a bad mark for his return. Fish Called Johnnny in the 7.00 at Wolverhampton is my only runner today having lost all my dough yesterday. This decent two-year-old has dropped to a very low mark and if getting off on terms he could go close at a big price.

Another poor day...

But as ever we keep going. Just one selection for Danny, Prince Hamlet in the 6.50 at Wolverhampton. Bryan Smart has come out of the doldrums and this one boasts a very nice pedigree and should act on the surface. I have gone mad today and selected four. One at a price is April Attraction in the 2.50 at Hereford. The stable are amongst the winners and this one is very well treated on the form shown behind Massini's Maguire. Avas World will also be a decent price in the 7.50 at Wolverhampton. Peter Grayson's charge is well treated on the pick of last season's form. Coleorton Dancer in the 8.50 has the form to go close and was the subject of a massive gamble recently. Back to the jumps for my final selection Musical Gift in the 1.20 at Hereford. A recent third behind a progressive type last time looks the best form on show.

More disaster....

Let's try and do better on Wednesday. Danny has a couple on the all-weather, the first is Hucking Hero in the 2.00 at Lingfield. This one missed the break last time out but has strong claims on his previous success. Dan's second runner is Dickie Le Davoir in the 6.50 at Kempton. This is head and shoulders above the rest of the field on official ratings and is an old favourite. I have gone for the Howard Johnson newcomer in the 12.40 at Hexham Act Sirius. It is rated 74 on the flat and boasts a very good pedigree. It will not have to be too special to beat these.

Way out on Monday..

Let's see what we can do on Tuesday. We both like the look of Kid Charlemagne in the 1.10 at Folkestone. This one was so impressive in bumpers last season and is bred to make a decent hurdler. Danny's next choice is Brousse En Feux in the 2.10 at Folkestone. David Pipe's charge won with plenty in hand last time out and hasn't been badly treated by the handicapper. Another selection for me is Prunes in the 1.50 at Wolverhampton. Alan Berry's runner ran well over the seven furlong trip here in September, tiring in the closing stage. Six furlongs on a course that suits should see her go close.

Very difficult on Sunday...

Anyone who made a profit must have the luck of the devil. Let's hope Monday easier. Danny's first choice is Inchlaggan in the 1.40 at Leicester. David Pipe's charge was a shade disappointing last time out but should find this easier. Dan's second runner is Godfrey Street in the 3.00 at Wolverhampton. Kevin Ryan's runner wasn't beaten far at Ponty last time out and still looks on a decent mark. Just one choice for me, Fenners in the 4.20 at Kempton. This one was a rare runner for yard at this venue last time out and ran well. A repeat effort should be good enough.

Well done to Danny...

Nothing to do with the horses and probably of no interest to most readers, but Danny collected five awards at the Methley cricket presentation night. I missed it due to work, but he must have been up and down like a yoyo collecting top under 13 batsman, top fielder for under 13's, 15's and 17's and a special award for the out-standing player of the year. Well done again we are so proud. Anyway enough of that, on to the horses and I have to select Papini in the 1.10 race at Cheltenham. He is held in very high regard by the stable and although he beat trees on his chase debut, he did it well enough and can improve. My second choice is Altilhar in the 2.55 race. Gary Moore has a superb record over the last two seasons in the top handicap hurdleraces and Altilhar loves it round here and is on a decent mark. Danny has chosen Paradi in the 1.45 at Cheltenham. This one is lightly raced and improved throughout last season. At Fontwell he likes the look of Zimbabwe. This one improved during last winter and will have needed his recent run.

Holding our own at present..

But we want a profit today and we are going to start with Willyanwoody for Danny in the 1.25 at Cheltenham. This one looked a star of the future when winning in great style last time out and as with many of the stable's runners he should improve for the run. Danny also likes L'Ami in the 3.40. The Doumen horse took on the best last season and is reported fit for his return. In the 2.35 race David Pipe runs Vodka Bleu and in the recent stable tour he said he had high hopes for this one this season and he does get in here on a very favourable mark on the pick of his form.

A great card at Cheltenham..

And a standing dish here is Spot The Difference and Danny reckons this one can land this race again. Even though he is long in the tooth the ability is still there and he will take some beating. I was going to put Spectait on as a selection but we are afraid of Zilcash, so instead I will go for Thea di Bisanzio in the 3.20 at Lingfield. This one has shown enough in three races to suggest he has got in here on a fair mark for his handicap debut. My second choice is Watch My Back in the 12.05 at Newcastle. This smooth bumper winner was going really well on hurdles debut before lack of fitness was evident. With that run under his belt he should improve leaps and bounds.

Danny saves us again...

Nice winner for the boy on the sand and he fancies another all-weather runner today, Hucking Hero 2.50 Lingfield. This one was a comfortable winner over course and distance last time out and should have the race run to suit. I like the look of Baylini in the 2.50 race. It appeared to be a strong handicap that this one finished third in last time and she has gone close off much higher marks in the past. Just one over the jumps, McQueen is an each-way choice in the 2.30 at Ludlow. He showed improved form on the flat and does get in here on a very tempting mark of 90.

Sorry!!!!!

No update on Tuesday as I was not feeling too good (at deaths door really). We would have only had a 6/5 winner anyway. Feeling a bit better today and had a little look at today's action and came up with Benllech in the 6.50 at Kempton as my main selection. Syvester Kirk's charge had some excellent form last season and came to form this time of year. He is well treated by the race conditions and should go well. Danny likes Well Saved in the 12.50 at Bangor. Jonjo's runner showed plenty of ability in three Irish bumpers and is bred to make a decent hurdler. He has also gone for Up In Arms in the 9.20 at Kempton. This one is well treated on his best turf form and should go close if handling the surface. My second choice runs in the 2.50 at bangor, David Pipe's Troialini. This was claimed after easily winning at Leicester on the flat and looks the type to do well at this game.

Winners galore on Sunday!!

Well two anyway, which is bloody good for us at the moment. We are going to try and keep this excellent run going on Monday. We both fancy Lindelaan in the 2.05 at Wolverhampton. Stoutey's runner was well fancied on debut but was slowly away, she can make amends this afternoon. Danny also likes the look of New Alco in the 1.55 at Carlisle. Ferdy Murphy's runner progessed nicely last season before flopping at the festivals. He may have been over the top then and could be a better proposition when fresh. Almahaza in the 3.50 at Lingfield is my second choice. This one was agood winner last time despite dwelling at the start and hanging left.

I'm dog tired...

Late shift on the greyhounds on saturday night and back on them today so not too much time. A few short priced ones today starting with Lake Imperial in the 3.40 Hereford. This one was very impressive when winning last time out and a seven pound penalty shouldn't stop the follow up. Danny has gone for Tycoon Hall in the 3.20 at Market Rasen. Peter Bowen's horses are going well and this one showed improved form over fences last time out. Danny also reckons the rejuvenated Birkside can go in again in the 2.00 at Kempton.

Saturday, November 10, 2007

Another difficult Saturday..

And we have four selections. The first is Makshoof for Danny in the 12.00 at Doncaster. Kevin Ryan's charge has dropped to a decent mark and has solid claims on earlier season form. His second choice is Massasoit in the 12.40 at Wincanton. Paul Nicholls does well with this type and it doesn't look too strong a contest. I have also gone for a Nicholls horse, Phoenix Jack in the 1.10 race. This one has shown plenty of ability and could have got in here lightly. My second choice is in the 3.40 at Doncaster Backbord. Lucy Wadham's charge hasn't raced on the flat for a while but has been running well over hurdles and could be well treated here.

Placed again...

Just can't get things right, changed my mind with Delfi on Thursday. When your luck's out it's out. My first selection for riday is Nifty Roy in the 2.50 at Hexham. This one is rated much higher over fences and should be all the better for recent spin. My second choice is First Order in the 2.30 at Musselburgh. Ian Semple's horses are flying and this one looked on the way back to form last time. Danny has opetd for Crocodile Bay in th 4.00 at Musselburgh. Dandy's horse is holding it's form well and hs the assistance of the winner hungry Jamie Spencer. He also likes the Jarvis newcomer Al Cobra in the 2.00 race. This expensive purchase should know what is required first time out and doesn't look to have too much to beat.

Thursday, November 08, 2007

It's a tough old game..

Christmas 2008 will be cancelled next at this rate. But on to Thursday and Danny has gone for Argentine in the 2.30 at Musselburgh. Len Lungo's charge hasn't been beaten far in some competitive races recently and has dropped to a very lenient mark. I like the look of Double Eagle in the 3.10 at Towcester. This one ran a blinder in a class one handicap in April and if fit should go close despite a rise in the weights. Danny also fancies El Coto in the 3.00 at Musselurgh. Kevin Ryan's runner has most of these beat on previous form.

Wednesday, November 07, 2007

The Gods are against us at the moment..

But we always turn it around, let's see what we can do on Wednesday. Danny has opted for Piermarini in the 1.45 at Nottingham. Mark Johnston's colt wasn't beaten far behind subsequent conditions stakes winner Khandular Run last time out and is goint the right way. A couple for me at Chepstow this first is Kid Charlemagne in the 1.55. This was an impressive dual bumper winner and certainly bred to make a hurdler. Heltornic is my second choice in the 3.05 race. Michael Scudamore's charge improved over fences last season and gets in here over hurdles on a 20 pound lower mark.

Tuesday, November 06, 2007

Modest racing on Tuesday...

But we may have found some decent bets. My first selection is a bit of a hopeful choice in the 1.40 at Catterick. Mark Johnston won the race twelve months ago with a 25/1 chance and he runs two in the contest again. Traitors Gate is the interesting one, strongly fancied on his debut he ran very green and then went off too fast next time, with more restraint he could go well in this weak affair. My second choice is Waterline Twenty in the 4.00 at Lingfield. This one beat a previous winner and a very well handicapped horse recently and can follow up today. Danny also has a couple, the first being Gunsmith in the 1.50 at Exeter. Jonjo's charge was very novicey on his hurdles debut but will have learnt from the experienece and should improve. His second runner is Kaldouas in the 3.50 race. This one wasn't beaten far on his return and as with many Nicholls horses he should improve for his first run of the campaign.

Sunday, November 04, 2007

Hitting the bar again..

New week, new hope. We have three selections for Monday. The first is Mutual Friend for Danny in the 1.10 at Warwick. David Pipe's charge comes here following an excellent run on the flat and looks to have little to beat. His second choice is E Major in the 2.50 at Wolverhampton. This well bred Stoute newcomer will not have to be too smart to beat these. I reckon Alfadora is a good thing in the first at Plumpton. He was an impressive winner at Wetherby on Friday and should defy a seven pound penalty.

The usual Sunday dash..

Four selecttions today first of all two for Danny. His first is Chief Editor in the 3.20 at Wolverhampton. This one should step up on promising seasonal return behind Oldejoesaid. Hi ssecond choice is Wise Little Girl in the 3.40 at Lingfield. This one probably didn't stay last time out and will be suited to the return to 10 furlongs. I like the look of Tense in the 1.30 at Lingfield. She has shown plenty of promise in three races to date and should be suited by the step up in trip for handicap debut. My second choice is King's Caprice in the 3.10 race. This one ran well last time and is weighted to reverse form with his two market rivals.

Saturday, November 03, 2007

Danny's back....

Refreshed from his break, he has two selections for Saturday. The first is Queen Of Naples in the 2.05 at Newmarket. Gosden's runner has contested much better company than this and should lose her maiden tag. His second choice is Tobar Suil Lady in the 1.25 at Ayr. He doesn't think we have seen the best of this one and she can defy top-weight. I will have to go with Papini in the 2.45 and hope we get odds against. This top hurdler has always been expected to make a better chaser and there doesn't look to be too much to beat. I also like Hoo La Baloo in the 2.10 race. This one one well last time out despite a few mistakes and if he keeps his feet will be hard to beat.

Friday, November 02, 2007

Making the wrong decisions....

I will see try and get things right on friday. Three selections today the first is in the 12.15 at Newmarket, Star Pattern . John Gosden's juvenile is is very well related and cost a pretty penny. He will not have to be too special to beat these. I like the look of another newcomer in the 1.20 Sir Michael Stoute's Tartan Bearer. This son of Spectrum is a full brother to Golan and as with the first selection he will no have to that good to win here. I also like Smugglers Bay in the 2.50 at Wetherby. This one slaughtered the well regarded John Dillon last time out and makes a quick return to the track.
