Close again, very frustrating..

Let's hope Thursday's two selections can do better. The first is Auroras Encore in the 3.30 at Newcastle. This one put in two solid efforts last season against much better opposition. In the 1.10 at Lingfield Siren Sound is a well bred newcomer that could go well. She is an expensive daughter of Singspiel that doesn't appear to have too much to beat.
Just to let you know; We have added a new feature to the blog for the jumps season, a list of horses to follow. Mine are quite obvious choices but if anybody else has any to add just send them through on a comment.

Back amongst the winners....

Lets hope we can keep it going. This is Danny's last choices for a couple of days as he is going to a religious retreat...( what???). He'll be teaching them all how to gamble and play snooker. Anyway he will be back with some selections for Saturday. For Wednesday he has three choices, the first is Lindelaan in the 2.50 at Nottingham. The Stoute newcomer is superbly bred and has very little to beat. He also likes Redsensor in the 2.00 at Lingfield. This one has rock solid form and drops to a claimer for the first time. His final choice is Woodins Way in the Linfield 4.00. This one is really well treated on his best form and it looks avery weak handicap. I will go for Brandywell Boy in the 2.20 race. There are excuses for his last run and he has solid claims on earlier form.

We are due a change of fortune...

Let's hope it happens today. No Danny today so just a couple for me the first is Parchment in the 2.00 at Catterick. There were excuses for his last two runs and ground and trip are in his favour today. The second choice is First Avenue in the 3.10 at Yarmouth. This one was given a gentle introduction after being naive in the early stages. There should be plenty of improvement to come.

Things didn't go right on Sunday..

But a new week brings new hope. Hope being the operative word today as it is very difficult. Provence in the 1.20 at Leicester is my first choice. This is a pretty week contest and this one has shown decent form in two hot maidens. Danny has plumped for Fun Seeker in the 2.00 at Lingfield. Mark Johnston's juvenile is improving with each run and has experience of the all-weather. My second choice is Labor Day in the in the 3.30 at Lingfield. John Gosden's charge has strong claims on his run behind Cliche.

A bad day for the blog and a sad day for racing..

George Washington will be sadly missed by racegoers around the world and our thoughts go out to connections.
Just jumps action today but a cracking card at Aintree. I am taking on the Gold Cup winner with Ashley Brook in the 2.40 race. The weight concession should be too much as there are a couple of form lines that suggest Kevin Bishop's charge should have his measure on these terms. My second choice is Naiad Du Misselot in the 3.15. Ferdy Murphy's charge was in good form last season and is bred to get this trip being a half brother to Neptune Collonges and Moustique Du L'Isle. Nothing from Danny today as he as gone to his mate's for a couple of days.

Saturday, October 27, 2007

A busy old day today.

Another tough Saturday, but Danny has a couple of decent fancies. His first is Curtain Call in the 3.40 at Doncaster. This one is improving with racing and easily beat a decent Group two field last time out. He also likes Bo Mcginty in the 2.30 race. I'm having computer problems at home so will add more selections when I get to work. Although we will put Jonesy's tip Pangano in the 3.20 at Aintree forward as a selection. A quick couple for me first of all Almajd in the 2.15 at newbury. This one has been touted as Sir Michael's guineas horse for next year and he is expected to improve on his denbut run. The second runner is Fateh Field 3.05 Doncaster. This one couldn't have been any more impressive on debut and should improve.

He does it again....

Well done again to young Danny, two nice winners on Thursday. He has two more hopefuls on Friday. The first is Slam in the Doncaster 1.20. This one has shown plenty in three races to date, earning a rating of 94. Unless one of the newcomers is a bit special he should be good enough to land this. His second choice is Out After Dark in the 3.25. Clive Cox's six-year-old hasn't done much of late but is very well treated on the best of last season's form. Naval Review is my choice in the 1.50 race. This looks the weaker division and this well bred son of Storm Cat will not have to be too special to make a winning debut.

Close again , but not good enough..

I have a couple of selections on Thursday. The first is Crown Office in the 2.00 at Bright. Hughie Morrison's runner is improving with racing and gets in here on a very lenient mark for handicap debut. My second choice is Still Together in the 5.25 at Carlisle. The stable have a good record in these events and this well bred type doesn't have much to beat. Danny also has two for today starting with Relinquished in the 3.05 at Brighton. Noseda's juvenile has contested some hot nurseries and this looks a little easier. His second runner is Transcend in the 3.35 contest. Under the circumstances this one ran well fom a poor draw at Salisbury last time and still looks on a decent mark.

I think I should just leave it to Danny...

The lad has two selections for Wednesday, his first is Bobski in the 3.10 at Lingfield. A repeat of his last run here in a stronger race should be good enough. His second choice is Sandrey in the 4.10 race at the same track. Peter Chapple-Hyam's charge hasn't lived up to his tall home reputation but doesn't look badly treated on his best form. I have only one choice Dunn'o in the 3.oo at Bath. This is a hard pulling sort and should be suited by the drop in trip.

More disappointment....

Well I think I might have to cancel christmas if this carries on. However there is one I strongly fancy today, Blue Rhapsody in the 3.00 at Yarmouth. Cumani's charge wasn't given the best of rides by Miss Turner last time out and with a clear passage would have won comfortably. With the in form Spencer on today she should go close. A couple of well bred newcomers for Danny, Wingbeat in the 2.30 at Yarmouth and Monbretia in the 5.00 race. Both are from top yards and both should appreciate the ground conditions.

Monday, October 22, 2007

Late today due to Gary being his usual self

But he has given a selection for us and Danny also selected it, Godfrey Street in the 3.10 at Pontefract. This one bounced back to form in great style and escapes a penalty. Danny also likes Latin Lad in the 3.40. An impressive debut winner, he was just beaten in a better race last time out. My only selection today is Little Firecracker in the 2.10 at Pontefract. This one is expected to improve for the step up in trip.

Is this my worst run ever?

I did manage to find a couple at Wolverhampton last night so maybe the tide is turning. Anyway two for me this afternoon. French Opera is the first in the 3.25 at Kempton. Nicky Henderson has high hopes for this four-year-old who only looks to have Deep Purple to beat. My second choice is Presenting Express in the 5.05. Emma Lavelle's charge goes well fresh and starts the campaign on a decent mark. Danny has elected to stay on the flat at Wolverhampton and his first choice is Truckers Town in the 3.50 race. We have already said that Stoute's juvenile debutantes should be followed and this looks an easy task for this well bred sort. His second runner is Guacamole in the 4.25. This one ran well off this mark in a higher grade event last time out and should go close if handling the surface.

I'm getting closer...

Lets see what we can do on Champions day. In the 3.55 I can't get away from Samurai Way. The ground is not a problem, he is improving with every run and is from a yard that has won plenty of big handicaps this season. In the Dewhurst Danny has gone for New Approach. This one has almost followed the same route as Teofilo and has done little wrong. We have an each-way choice in the 3.15, Pam Sly's Speciosa. The run behind Peeping Fawn on similar ground to today's stands out as possibly the best form on show.

I am having trouble findng a winner

I am finding it impossible at the moment and today's card at Newmarket is not helping. However there is one that I like in the 4.20 race, Vital Statistics. David Elsworth's runner has been rated as high as 108 and is bred to love the soft ground. She hasn't really hit form yet this season but is capable of winning this at her best. I am also taking a chance with the Michael Jarvis newcomer Sortita in the 1.00. The pedigree suggests he could be a bit special and the stable noramally pick up the odd back-end maiden. Danny has a couple as well the first is Officer de Reserve in the 2.20 at Cheltenham. Nicholls does well with his French imports and this one shows the same talent over hurdles as fences he will be hard to beat. Blue Ksar in the Newmarket 3.10 is his second choice. It appears to have the best form on show and will love the ground.

Well done to the boy...

Yeah dan keeps us ticking over through a difficult time. He has two for Thursday, the first is Propaganda in the 3.00 at Brighton. Cumani's charge hasn't really stepped up on a promising debut run but there is only the Stoute horse to beat in this weak contest. His second choice is The Betchworth Kid in the 8.20 at Wolverhampton. Michael Bell's juvenile ran well in a better race than this at Doncaster last time out and looks the valuebet in the race. My First choice is Incomparable in the 2.10 at Nottingham. This one should step up on a very promising debut in a hot race at Newmarket. In the 3.30 at Brigton I like the look of Chant De Guerre. This is a consistent performer at this level and was a shade unlucky last time out.

Not enjoying things at present..

Can't do much right at the moment so just the one selection for me at the evening card. Gypsy Prince in the 7.50 at Kempton. Mick Quinlan's charge won in great style last time out and there could be more to come. there are two choices for Danny the first Dream Of Fortune in the 5.00. Noseda's horse was unlucky last time out and doesn't look badly treated on handicap debut. He also likes For Life in the 5.30. This one just keeps defying the handicapper and has been well placed again by his shrewd trainer.

I was found out on Monday...

One winner from 20 selections on the radio on Monday is not too good, well we all have our bad days. A quick update today for Tuesday as I am running late. Danny likes Govenor Eliott in the 2.10 at Leicester. This one has shown plenty of promise in twoo races to date and this isn't the strongest of contests. We are hoping for a Johnston double with Clovis in the 3.10. This one looks sure to improve on debut run.

Sunday, October 14, 2007

This is a first...

Both Danny and I, independent of each other, picked the same three selections. Two of them are trained by John Gosden. The first is the newcomer Vistaria in the 3.40 at Lingfield. This one boasts a superb pedigree and has very little to beat on debut. The second is Double Doors in the 4.10 race. This one is improving with each run and should land the hat-trick. Wolf River is our third choice in the 4.40. The wonderful Kirsty takes off a valuable five pounds on this improving Simcock runner and the hat-trick looks on the cards.

Late again and little time...

A quick update for Sunday. Kingsholm looks the one for me in the 4.05 at Goodwood. The five pound drop in the weights and the furlong less should suit Andrew Balding's runner. My second choice is Accusation in the 4.40 race. this one should come on a bundle for her debut run and is bred to get this trip on this ground. Haven't heard from the boy as yet, maybe something later on.

It proved to be hard...

Let's hope for better success on Saturday. We have both been following Tawaassol who goes in the 3.45 at York. He is well treated at present and ran his best race of the season last time out. Danny's main hope today is Captain Gerrard in the 1.10 at Ascot. Bryan Smart's star was a very smooth winner last time out and has conditions in his favour again. We also like the look of the Mark Johnston newcomer Ghizlaan in th 4.20.

Friday, October 12, 2007

A tough card ay York..

I always have difficulty picking winners at the Knavesmire but we think we have come up with three decent choices. The first is Spanish Moon for Danny in the 2.10. This one has always been held in high regard but has had his training problems. If he is back to his best he will take some beating. The first of my two selections is Mazaaya in the 2.40 race. Mark Johnston's youngster showed great determination to win first time up and can only improve. Partners In Jazz is my second choice in the 3.15 contest. I have followed this one most of the season and his handicap mark has steadily dropped. He has gone well in a couple of hot races recently and today could be his day.

Thursday, October 11, 2007

I taught him everything he knows...

Well done to the little 'un', he's having a great run. Let's hope it continues today. He has a couple of selections. His first is Changing Skies in the 2.10 at Newbury. Bryan Meehan's newcomer is a well bred daughter of Saddlers Wells that is related to numerous winners including top class Playful Act. His second choice is Edge Of Gold in the 2.40 race. Ths one continues to improve and gets in here on a decent enough mark. I have one selection Postage Stampe in the 3.15 race. I spoke to David Simcock on Tuesday and he said this one should have won last time out and is still well treated, but she does want the ground to be good so let's hope it dries out a bit for this one.

More non runners.....

If we keep picking non-runners at least our profit will not go down. Let's see if today's selections run. The first is for Danny Dualagi in the 1.40 at Nottingham. This one was a little unlucky last time and his best form has come on a soft surface. His second choice is Chantaco in the 5.10 Nottingam. This represents a dop in class and he has now dropped to a very decent mark. We both like the look of the well bred Stoute newcomer Tajaaweed in the 3.10. You could follow every juvenile debutante from this yard until the end of the season and you will make a profit.

Pretty strange results on Monday...

Let's hope things go right on Tuesday. One that we both like is Hold The Gold in the 1.50 at Folkestone. Not much of a price but it should be different class to these. Danny has also gone for Crows Nest Lad in the Leicester 2.40. This one had some decent form last season and looked on the way back last time at Beverley. In the 3.20 at Folkestone I think Ella Junior could be the one to be on. She is very well bred and made a very pleasing debut last week.

Dylan the hero....

What a terrfic, if rough ride by Mr Fallon to win on Dylan Thomas, that is what racing is all about. Anyway moving on to Monday and we have three selections. The first is Dharori in the 2.50 at Wolverhampton for Danny. We gave this one on his debut and he ran a solid enough race, despite getting bogged down in the soft ground. Danny's second choice is Al Badeya in the 4.30 at Windsor. Sir Michael has a record second to none in these type of races here and and this doesn't look a very strong race. My only selection today is Watchful in the 4.00 at Windsor. Luca Cumani's well bred filly made a big impression when winning on her debut at Goodwood and gets in here on a very fair mark.

What a terrific day's racing....

It is Arc day and I am cheering on Soldier Of Fortune. However we are going to leave that race alone as regards the the blog as danny likes Dylan Thomas and I am of course scared of Authorized. At Uttoxeter there are a couple Danny likes the first being Kia Kaha in the 2.30. Jonjo Always does well with this type and he was a clssy bumper performer. He also goes for another O'Neill runner in the 4.10 race Alternator. Another decent bumper performer, he would have gone close on hurdles debut but for a mistake, he should be open to improvement. Just one for me at Kelso, Mayadeen in the 5.00. Ian Semple's charge improved for the fitting of blinkers on the flat and can show better form over jumps.

Is this the start of a poor run? ...

We hope not and to try and put matters right we have four selections on Saturday. The first is my selection in the 2.45 at Newmarket Creachadoir. This one has taken on much better company and should go close for new yard. In the Cambridgeshire, both Danny and I have already backed the progressive Pipedreamer and so this one has to be the choice. My next choice is Blue Rhapsody in the 4.30. Cumani's charge looks well treated off just 75, especially in view of the second and third running well next time out. Bryan Smart should land the big juvenile race at Redcar, the 3.35 with Easy Target. Dark Angel gave the form a massive boost on Thursday and Tom Eves taking the ride looks another big possitive.

A bit late again....

Had school function last night so didn't really have time to check things out. And after studying this morning I am not really that strong on anything. Dan though does have a couple of selections, his first is Speedy Dollar in the 1.05 at Newmarket. We keep selecting Jarvis newcomers and one will cop soon. This one is very well bred and does have an entry in in the Racing Post Trophy and the Irish 1,000 Guineas. He also likes Gold Sovereign in the 5.00 at Newmarket. This Godolphin runner was very impressive on his debut and doesn't look too badly treated on his handicap debut. I will make one selection Visit in the 2.05 race. Having read the tranquiliser story, it was a pretty good effort last time and this well regarded filly could redeem her reputation this afternoon.

Danny saves us again..

Four selections for Thursday. Danny has gone for Plum Pudding in the 2.35 at Newmarket. Richard Hannon's charge has been taking on better company and has dropped down to a tempting mark. His second choice is Tax Free in the 4.20 race. This is an old favourite of Dan's, a top class sprinter that should have too many guns for these rivals. I like the look of the Michael Jarvis newcomer First Avenue in the 3.10 race. Owned by Michael Tabor, this is a superbly bred horse and will know his job first time up. My second choice is Idarah in the 3.55 at Ayr. We are taking fitness on trust, but he is well in on the pick of last season's form.

Tuesday, October 02, 2007

Moving on to Wednesday...

Doing okay at present and three more selections for you. Danny has chosen Oasis Wind in the 4.00 at Salisbury. This is a tricky race but Paul Cole's charge has done little wrong all season and ran a blinder in a valuable sales race at Doncaster last time. His second choice is Goodbye in the 5.10 at Newcastle. Alan Swinbank's charge beat a decent type very easily last time and can follow up today. I have one for you at Salisbury Dr Synn in the 1.30. Lovely Kirsty did me a favour yesterday (if you know what I mean ) and this one has very strong claims on his penultimate run.

Monday, October 01, 2007

A good start to the new month..

We will try and continue the good work with three selections on Tuesday. Danny's first choice is Robbmaa in the 2.40 at Warwick. This one was well supported on his debut but was slowly away and very green. There should be plenty of improvement to come. His second choice is Counterclaim in the 3.10. Very similar claims to the first selection having looked very naive on her debut. I like the look of Russki in the 5.10 contest. David Simcock's charge won with plenty hand last time and can follow up this safternoon.
