Danny is off on holiday...

Yes he will be climbing mountains and fighting raging currents on an adventure holiday with school for the next seven days so it will be down to yours truely to try and come up with some winners. However Dan did leave a couple for Saturday, first of all he likes the progressive Nosferatu in the Newcastle 3.20. Staying at Newcastle for my selection Battlecruiser in the 4.25. Mark Johnston has a great record in this event and this son of Red Ransom is expected to improve on his debut effort. Danny's second choice is at Newmarket in the 4.40, Fragrancy. Michael Jarvis's charge ran some terrific races last season, looks on a fair mark and should be spot on following two outings this season.

Nothing going right on Thursday....

On to Friday and Danny has three selections. His first is in the 7.05 at Newmarket Mick Is Back . This one has been in great form and is up against a few struggling rivals. In the Gosforth Park Cup Danny reckons Buchaill Donna is now down to a decent mark and looks capable of winning a decent race. His third choice is Medley in the 8.10 at Newmarket. Richard Hannon's charge should be spot on for this folllowing two promising efforts this season. Just one choice for me Rare Society in the 5.10 at Market Rasen. This one ran a blinder at Perth last time and can improve even further.

Sorry Danny, chose wrong ones...

Danny is a bit angry again after I selected two from his original three and once again his other choice won, and at 8/1. Anyway he has two choices for Thursday, first of all Prairie Son in the 4.00 at Newcastle. This one chased home Royal Ascot winner Full House on his final run of last season and has gone well fresh in the past. He also likes the look of Hassad in the 3.30 race. Mahusay is my selection the 3.00 contest. Luca Cumani's runner made a very favourable impression on his soft ground debut and is expected to impove. One for Ronnie up at Hamilton, Richtee in the first. This has dropped down to a very low mark and Sarena should now be back to her best following her accident.

The weather is playing havoc with our selections...

But hopefully all three choices will run on Wednesday. Danny likes a couple from Salisbury first of all Flying Indian in the 2.10. Andrew Balding's filly is improving with racing and should have no problem with the softer ground. His second choice is Apply Dapply in the 4.10 race. This one has taken on some decent opponenets since since on her seasonal debut and will find these a little less taxing. There is a cracking juvenile race at Carlisle the 2.00 and Choose Your Moment is very well thought of and should make the frame at least, we recommend an each-way bet on this one.

Nothing goes right for me...

The rain didn't help but I was way out. However Danny kept us afloat and he goes for two at Newbury tonight. His first is Primed And Poised in the 7.05. This one is well exposed but sets a good standard for the newcomers. His second is in the 8.05 Propaganda, a superbly bred Saddler's Wells filly that should appreciate the ground. Just one for me also at Newbury Jamboretta in the 8.40. Michael Stoute's runner won a shade comfortably last time and looks on a decent enough mark.

Another decent week-end, but we need to do better mid-week.

Danny coninues to carry me at the moment and he has a couple of selections for Monday. His first is in the 5.00 at Musselburgh, Inspainagain. David Barron's runner didn't do too badly on his handicap debut and looks to have little to beat this afternoon. Danny's second choice goes in the 7.40 at Windsor, Star Strider. Andrew Balding's charge was slowly away here last time over the five furlong trip but stayed on well to be a close up third. The extra distance should suit and he has the assistance of the superb William Buick. I have a couple of good priced fancies at Musselburgh, the first is Smiddy Hill in 2.00. Robin Bastiman's mare won over course and distance last summer off a mark of 67 and looked on the way back to form last time out. My second selection is in the 3.30, Fiefdom. The former Mark Johnston inmate is now down to a very lenient mark and went very close last time out.

A little bit of a recovery on Saturday..

We needed a nice winner so well one to Danny with Enjoy The Moment. The youngster has a couple at Warwick this afternoon. His first is Siamese Cat in the 4.00. Indian Ink certainly boosted this one's form at Royal Ascot and the ground is in her favour. Jawaaneb is his second choice in the 4.30. John Dunlop does well with this type. The step up in trip will suit on his handicap debut and the stable won this race last year. The British racing is tricky and so my one choice is at Gowran Park in the 2.25, Aidan O'Brien's Mineapolis. As you would expect he is bred in the purple and being by Saddlers Wells the ground will suit. He has a Jim Bolger runner to beat, which could see the selection go off at reasonable odds.

The end of a disappointing week..

After such a promising start things haven't gone right at Ascot, but we have one more day to come up with some Royal winners. In the Wokingham Danny has chosen Grantley Adams. This one returned from a three month break with terrific effort at Newmarket and the stable appear to be back in form. In the 3.05 Maraahel can reverse recent running with Scorpion on today's terms. A late entry from Danny, he likes the look of Enjoy The Moment in the 5.35 at Ascot. Hampered at a vital point on Tuesday after being well supported. There could be more to come from this unexposed type.

Close but not good enough on Thursday....

I fancy quite a few today, the main selection being Kenmore at Redcar in the 4.00. I have been following this one in it's last few races and it is a winner waiting to happen. He has dropped to a very decent mark and with a five pound claimer on board today could be the day. I also like the look of Heaven Sent in the 4.20 at Ascot. This one ran well in a Group three event at the Curragh last time and looked as though it was crying out for an extra couple of furlongs. My third selection is Lion Ridge in the 3.20 at Redcar. This expensive purchase showed plenty of promise on his debut and can take full advantage of the 12 pounds he recieves from his main rival. Danny has one from the Royal meeting. Finsceal Beo can reverse form with her French conqueror to prove she is the best three-year-old filly over a mile.

A blank day on Wednesday....

It looks even harder on day three at Ascot. Danny does however like the look of Cosmodrome in the 3.05. Cumani's filly was very impressive when landing a Goodwood Listed event last time and should be open to more improvement. Staying with the Italian trainer I think Filios will take all the beating in the 5.30. He did us a favour last time when winning nicely and once again he is on the upgrade. If Ripon goes ahead Danny reckons Choisette could go well in the 1.40. This one was very green on her debut and should have learnt from the experience. An each-way chance for me in the 4.55 is Medicine Path . Highly tried since his maiden victory last season, he will appreciate this drop into listed company.

Not a bad start to Ascot....

I must say thanks to trainer Jamie Osborne who gave a very good word for his runner Drawnfromthepast. Hopefully everybody who listened to sportslive was on. Now for day two and we are hopeful of having another winning day. My strongest selection is Cliche in the 5.30 at Ascot. Sir Michael's filly was most impressive when getting off the mark last time out. She quickened up in the style of a class horse and she can land this before taking on group class. Danny has a couple this afternoon. His first choice is Dylan Thomas in the feature at 3.45 . Just touched off in last year's Derby, he looks to have improved this term and hails from a yard bang in form. His second selection runs at Hamilton in the 5.10, Bret Maverick . This doesn't look a very strong race and he has shown enough to suggest he could land a race of this nature.

Class racing has arrived...

Here we go with the start of the Royal meeting. We have a couple of short priced Aidan O'Brien runners that should go close. The Irish will not here of defeat for Henrythenavigater in the 2.30. This colt was so impressive on his debut and is reported to be a better two-year-old than George Washington. Speaking of the forlorn lover, George Washington is our second selection in the 4.20. He is back to his best and has settled down with another winter on his back. He is the class horse in the race and cannot be opposed. The each-way selection runs in the 4.55, Nicky Henderson's Afrad. He has been very impressive over hurdles, will love the trip and gets in here on a very tempting mark. Nearly forgot Danny's best selection of the day Miss Andretti the 3.05. This flying machine looks the best of the Australian trio.

Danny shows me how it's done...

Well done to Danny with two excellent winners on Sunday. Let's see if he can keep up the good work on Monday. He looks to have found a decent priced runner with a good chance in the 2.15 at Carlisle in Bret Maverick . At first glance the form looks nothing but on closer inspection I would suggest that the selection should be rated around 55. Which puts it just ahead of the main rivals and he should step up on a recent return. Danny's second choice is Richard Fahey's Cat Whistle in the 2.45. This one put in a promising first effort and the trainer has lines of form with the main rivals. There is nothing that stands out too strongly for me but I reckon Proud Killer could run a good race in the 8.15 at Warwick. Eddie Ahern's mount ran in a Group three contest last summer following a decent maiden success. He looked in need of his seasonal debut at Kempton and off his current mark of 73 he could go close.

A terrible Saturday....

The best bet of the day was well beaten, the worst thing was that it fell into the Millard two-year-old system (showing promise first time out and starting less than 2/1) . I will never hear the end of it. To top that I have been following Prize Fighter, knowing it was going to win a race, but didn't have the courage to put it on the blog, it wins at 14/1. However I have had worse disappointments and so time to forget it and move on to Sunday. Danny likes a couple at Folkestone first of all Yandina in the 3.50. The form of her recent second to Bakhoor is working out well and she looks open to improvement. Danny's second choice is a Luca Cumani newcomer in the 4.20, Speed Gift. This son of Montjeu will not have to be too special to win this prize. I also like a Cumani runner, Peppermint Green in the 2.30 at Salisbury. This one contested a listed race on her second start at two, is superbly bred and should make a better three-year-old.

Toby is the IT king...

Four AOL technicians couldn't sort it, but Tobes did. So we are back in business and looking ahead to Saturday. Two for Danny at Sandown. His first choice is Docofthebay in the 1.50 He chose this earlier in the week when an excellent second in what looked a very strong race. The fact that it comes out again so quickly is a hint in itself. His second goes in the 3.00, Endiamo. This one contested some strong races last season and was most impressive on his return. Two shortish priced ones for me at Leicester. First of all High Days in the 7.15. Michael Stoute's charge was very green on her debut over five furlongs. She is bred to get a mile so will appreciate the step up in trip and will have no problems if the ground is soft. In the 7.45 I like Oldjoesaid. The form of his recent second has really worked out well and he is also expected to improve for the run.

Sorry having computer problems...

Haven't been able to get on AOL for 24 hours. So borrowed a computer for Friday's update. I haven't been able to look at the racing and Danny picked two selections from York. So I'm afraid we have nothing for you today.

We draw a blank again....

Another four losers and so hopefully we can't do any worse on Thursday. Circle Of Love in the Newbury 2.40 is the first choice of Danny. This Irish Oaks entry showed terrific form as a two-year-old and should go close here if fit for her return. He also likes Hi Calypso in the 5.25. Michael Stoute's charge was highly tried last season and should step up on seasonal return. There is an intersting juvenile newcomer in the 4.25 race, Richard Hannon's Billion Dollar Kid. This son of Averti cost just 11,000 Gns as a foal but was sold as a yearling for 77,000. He is a very early foal and related to some decent types. In the 5.35 at Yarmouth Credit Slip looks to have an excellent chance in a weak race. The form of his last two runs is generally working out and he should be suited by this test of stamina.

Got it all wrong on Tuesday.....

Danny was near but I was way out, but I will try and do better on Wednesday. A couple for me at Beverley, the first is Dark Charm in the 3.20. This one showed improved form last time out and appears to have an easier task today. The second is in the 4.20, Moorstown Music. John Wainwright's runner is steadily coming to hand and looks on a very fair mark. Danny has two from Nottingham starting with Docofthebay in the 2.40. This was third in a better race at Newmarket last time and runs off the same mark. His next choice goes in the 3.10 race Lady Gloria. This one is a model on consistency and has the assistance of the in form Eddie Ahern.

I am a bit keen today...

Today's selections haven't run yet but I am already looking ahead to tomorrow. The main reason is that I have just started a 6 hour dog shift and am a bit bored. Anyway Danny is a bit miffed, he gave me four horses for today and I picked two for the blog. You guessed it the other two both won this afternoon at 5/2 and 11/4. Let's hope tonight's runners win or my life will be hell. Dan has given me two from Salisbury on Tuesday, the first is Nice To Know in the 3.15. Ed Dunlop's charge has shown plenty of promise in two outings to date and could be spot on for this. His second choice is in the 3.45, Esteem Machine. It is the most exposed runner in the line up but the form is solid and the stable is going well. A couple of Richard Fahey runners for me at Chester, the first is Stonecrabstomorrow in the 7.45. This one has dropped down to a decent mark, has a good draw and has been running better than his form figures suggest. The second is King's College Boy in the 8.15. This one is also well handicapped at the moment and he has yet to finish out of the first three in five visits to Chester.

Not a bad week-end, now for Monday...

Three selections on Monday, Danny likes a couple, his main choice being Nero's Return in the 7.05 at Windsor. Gary Moore's charge drops into claiming company for the first time, has no problems with ground or trip and has little to beat. Danny's second selection runs at Ponty, Pipedreamer in the 7.45. This one was an impressive winner last time out and should appreciate the step up in trip. Back to Windsor for my selection Faith And Reason in the 7.35. This former Godolphin inmate is now down to a tempting mark and we could be set for a Curley coup.

More relaxed today...

Friday and Saturday were a bit crazy but more time this morining, mainly because the bosses are not in yet. Well done to Danny for King Of Argos and he looks to have found a good one at Bath today in the 4.40, Treason Trail. Back with Stef Liddiard, he looks well handicapped and returns quickly following an unlucky run at Haydock on Friday. I have a couple today, firstly in the big one at Perth the 3.50, I think Tamarinbleu could go close. David Pipe's charge took on some top chasers last season and ran a blinder behind Abragante in a handicap hurdle last time out. My second choice runs at Bath in the 3.10, Spice Bar of Andrew Balding's. The stable are in decent form and this one was staying on well over a mile last time out and should appreciate the extra couple of furlongs.

We have a non-runner; Treason Trail has been pulled out and so Danny, who has studied the race has now gone for Squirtle who is now down to a decent mark and does like it round here.

Saturday, June 09, 2007

Short of time....

Busy time so we will just give the selections for Saturday. Dan likes King of Argos in the 5.40 at Goodwood. I reckon Utmost Respect should go close in the first race at 2.20. Sorry it is a bit rushed but time to go.

Friday, June 08, 2007

Computer problems yesterday...

Had to borrow a computer, mine on the blink, so a bit late with the update. Any hoo we have three selections today starting with Silver Hotspur in the 3.05 at Catterick. The Wigham yard have been going through a dry spell but as a consequence their horses are well handicapped. Vegas Boys won the other day and so they could be on the way back. Michael also runs Littledodayno in the same race so watch the betting market. Common Purpose in the 3.20 at Goodwood is another for Danny. The Gosden horse is starting a handicap for the first time following three promising efforts in maiedns and looks on a fair mark. The best bet of the day could be Rockfield Tiger in the 7.20 at Haydock. The Osborne two-year-old's are flying and this one finished fourth to the smart Declaration Of War on his debut.

Wednesday, June 06, 2007

Poor performance on Wednesday...

So we will try and make amends on Thursday. Danny has a couple at Haydock. First of all Destour in the 2.50, this one was still green last time out but ran a decent enough race and may find this opposition a little easier. His second choice is Express Wish in the 3.55. It is the same combination of Noseda and Dettori. An impressive maiden winner last time out, he doesn't look badly treated for his handicap bow. I like the look of Chairman Bobby in the 2.30 at Hamilton. the five pound claimer brings this one down to a very nice weight and trip and ground are ideal.

Tuesday, June 05, 2007

Mixed fortune on Tuesday..

A bit of profit on Tuesday let's see if we can add to it on Wednesday. Danny missed out yesterday and so he's really going for it today with four selections. Three from Nottingham, Blue Hills in the 3.45, Shumook in the 4.10 and Arabian Treasure in the 4.40. All three hold solid form claims but the last named looks the best bet for me. I also like Strathmore in the first at Nottingham. This one was most impressive last time out, is only up six pounds and looks set to improve. In the evening Danny plumps for Cedar Mountain in the 7.10 at Kempton. This impressive all-weather winner doesn't look harshly treated for handicap debut.

Never again...

Flying Goose, I should know better than to listen to gossip, but it did appear to have an excellent chance. He was a bit green and could be worth following next time. Now and again(especially when I can't pick my nose) we get in a guest tipster and today I am pleased to say we have my friend and work companion Tony Whitfield. Tony heads to Southwell tonight for his selection Nevada Desert in the 8.10. Richard Whitaker's charge looked on the way back last time when fourth to Flipando, a race that is working out well. This represents a drop in class and Tony expects a big run. On a very difficult day I have just one selection Desert Commander in the 3.30 at Ripon. The hope is that the first time blinkers can return this one to his form of last year when winning this race off a four pound higher mark. Having worked until mid-night on Monday haven't spoken to Danny and so no selection from the lad.

Cricket, weather and tipping rubbish on Sunday..

Gargrave must have been the only place in England where it rained persistently. They managed to finish the game in about six hours but Danny went for 10 and Leeds lost. Anyway back to the horses. Danny has gone to Windsor this evening for two selections. His first is Cleide Da Silva in the 7.00. This one made a promising return over ten furlongs, just tiring close home and the drop in trip should suit. Borderlesscott looks the class act in the Listed event at 8.00. This stable star has to go this route as his handicap mark is now a bit high, but the opposition doesn't look too strong. Meanwhile I like the look of Mad Rush in the 3.00 at Leicester. He won with plenty of authority last time, gets in here on a fair mark and looks set to improve.

A late entry; We have had a good word for the once raced Flying Goose in the 7.15 at Thirsk. This once raced Cumani colt had plenty of subsequent winners behind on his debut and is reportedly going well at home.

We have a superstar.....

Authorized did the business in the Derby, winning despite being a bit fracious before the start. We reckon there could still be plenty more to come from this one and it will take a good horse to beat him. I am doing Sunday's selections early because we are heading to Gargrave (whereveer that is ) in the moring as Danny is playing cricket for Leeds. We are hoping he gets a good score and we are hoping our three Brighton runners all win. They are Evensstorm in the 2.20 race. Brian Gubby paid a lot for this American bred who ran a race full of promise on her debut. Lion Ridge in the 3.50 is Danny's selection. This well bred son of Monjeu is froma stable that has a great strike rate at this course. Finally we have Something Simple in the 4.20. Richard Ford's yard is flying and this one has got ground and trip in his favour and is now down to a decent mark.

Scorpion stings the bookies...

Sorry that was a bit corny, but it is was nice to get back on the winning trail. We are hoping to follow up with a few more today. In the Derby the previously mentioned Authorized is of course the pick. So impressive in the Dante and we reckon there is more to come. I was very impressed with Bespoke Boy on his debut and he can give Frankie another winner in the Epsom 2.30. Still with Mr Dettori, Danny reckons Blue Ksar is a good thing in the 3.00. He was very impressive at Lingfield last time out and like most of Godolphin runners he should be fitter for the run.
